🌟My minimalist husband introduced this shopping rule early into our marriage: if one new item comes in then two old items go out. It was the healthy boundary I needed around my love for shopping and borderline, hoarding habits. Whenever I downsize my closet, the remaining items have to pass a mandatory test of the following questions. Does this object bring me good or bad memories? Will someone enjoy these articles more than me? Am I wearing this item enough or is it just taking up space? Does this piece fit me well right now, not in the past and not one day when I lose the weight? Enjoy it today or let someone else have a turn.
🌟December is one of those months that inspires me to declutter, maybe because of all the excess the holidays seem to bring or the acknowledgement that it's the year's end. Perfect time to take stock of my projects, schedules and relationships to see if they will accompany me into 2019 or join the memories of 2018. I also evaluate areas of my life to determine what value it holds by creating these 3 decluttering categories. (1) Which areas do I need to challenge to evolve in? (2) Which areas have fruit so that I continue nurturing them? (3) Which areas are fruitless distractions and need to be eliminated?
🌟Cutting out the noise, clutter and confusion out of my life releases more peace, focus, and energy into the fruitful areas. The freed up space can now be filled with new discoveries, hopes, and dreams. Let's purpose to finish off 2018 well👏
📖 John 15:2 (NIV)
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.
